Gil-Galad, High King of the Elves

Good afternoon, I had the day off work today from school being closed due to the crummy weather we have been having lately and got some painting done. Another of the models I frequently look at and think "Hmmm... I really should paint him some time soon..." I give you a progression of pictures showing the rough process of painting Gil-Galad.

Gil-Galad in his basecoat and the base painted with Stirland Mud.

Now I have painted the face Elf Flesh and added some Bestial Brown to the base. The boots are painted Snakebite Leather and the chainmail has been brushed with Shining Gold.

Gil-Galad now has Burnished Gold on his armor plates, Space Wolves Grey on the inside of his robe(?) and Enchanted Blue on his over-shirt/tunic.

Here he has Ice Blue on the outer surface of his robe and Enchanted Blue on the cloth over his abdomen.

Now the spear shaft has been painted Bleached Bone, and cloth on the shoulders has been painted Regal Blue, and the cloak has been painted Enchanted Blue. Adeptus Battle Grey has also been used to highlight the hair.

The blade of the spear has now been painted Mithril Silver. A hem of Sunburst Yellow has been added to the Ice Blue robe, and Golden Yellow has been used to add a hem to the Enchanted Blue tunic and as a design on the abdomen cloth.

More detailing has been added in this picture. Burnished Gold on the detail of the spear blade and framing the gem on the collar. The gem itself is Hawk Turquoise. More golden Yellow has been added as a hem for the collar and shoulder pieces. The gloves have been painted Snakebite Leather to match the boots.

Below you will find pictures of the finished model. Hope you enjoy, he was fun to paint and quite satisfying to finish :)

Cirdan the Shipwright

Good morning, I wanted to post a couple of pictures of my recently painted Cirdan model. Another of my "Long Sitting in Just His Basecoat" models, He's languished for quite some time. Possibly because I was not sure how I wanted to paint him.

The light isn't the best so it's hard to get a clear look at the colors, but his robe is Ice Blue, and the sash is Enchanted Blue. The skin is Elf Flesh, and the hair is Fortress Grey with Space Wolves Grey highlights. His cloak is Space Wolves Grey with Skull White highlights, and the clasp is Mithril Silver. His robe and sash have an Asurmen Blue wash, and the robe also has a light highlight of Ice Blue.
I'm not a real big fan of the official GW paint scheme with the purple/deep blue colors, so I wanted to try something different. Blue is a factor of most of my High Elf models, so I wanted to keep it in, but also wanted to add some grey (he's from Mithlond, The Grey Havens after all, right?). I think I like the way it turned out :)

Earnur/Captain of Gondor Conversion

OMG! An update!
I'm sure you have all been waiting with bated breath for a new update ;) Been very busy for several months and have not put a lot of time into minis or battles, but I finally finished (largely) my CoG/Earnur conversion I first mentioned here: conversion. It was fun, and nice to see once I finished, so hoping that will prompt me to start doing more, more regularly.

Pictures taken with my phone, but they turned out better than I anticipated. The skin is Dwarf Flesh, the cloth is the black primer with Adeptus Battle Grey highlights, the leather (gloves, boots, belts) is Charadon Granite. The armor is Boltgun Metal, washed with Badab Black, then with a light highlight of Boltgun Metal. The hilt and pommel of the swords as well as accents(?) on the scabbard are Shining Gold. The swordblade is Chainmail with a Badab Black wash. The hair is Scorched Brown with Bestial Brown highlights.
He didn't take long to paint once I actually sat down to do it. Hope you enjoy :)
